What type of business should I buy?

Confucius said 'Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life' Confucius's words can also apply to buying a business. From clients that have bought a business, those that seem to have done the best are those that have purchased a business that draws on their strengths and not their weaknesses. If you like cooking, a restaurant or sandwich bar/cafe is going to be more suitable than a Newsagents. If you are not keen on paperwork, perhaps a Post Office is not the right choice for you. There are many different types of businesses which cover a wide spectrum of trades. You will have seen earlier in my blog the testimonial of Barrie Richards who went from selling solar panels to buying and becoming a very successful fish fryer. Similarly, Mr Rossiter who was employed as an architect fancied becoming a commercial landlord and over the years built up a very healthy portfolio of commercial properties and managed to retire early. Many businesses for sale offer a 2 week tuition period prior to completion to enable the purchaser not only to check the sales but also to learn from the existing owner how the business works. Certain types of business have further training courses - the National Federation of Fish Fryers run a very comprehensive fish frying course aimed at novices who are new to the business. Similarly, if you look to purchase a Post Office, prior to taking over Post Office Ltd run a first time buyer training course that we receive very good reports about. for more information on Ernest Wilson Business Agents, visit www.ernest-wilson.co.uk
